The brand's standout engineering is the Direct Drive motor — used in most LG washers, it eliminates the drive belt and reduces moving parts (with a 10-year limited motor warranty). LG dishwashers and fridges are highly rated; ranges and dryers are competitive with peers. ThinQ is the LG smart-home app, comparable to Samsung's SmartThings. Overall reliability is among the best of the mainstream brands.

    LE error on washers

    LE on LG washers usually means a motor or hall sensor issue (Direct Drive specific). The hall sensor reads motor position; when it fails, the motor doesn't sync properly. Can also be triggered by an overloaded drum (try removing some clothing first). Hall sensor replacement is routine.

    OE error during drain

    OE means the drain cycle didn't complete in the expected time. Almost always a clogged drain pump filter (front-load models have an access door at the bottom) or a kinked drain hose. Clean the filter first; if persistent, the pump itself may need replacement.

    Ice maker freezing fill tube

    LG French-door fridges share the broader French-door weakness of ice maker fill tubes freezing solid. Common cause: water pressure too low to push water through the tube before it freezes. Routine to thaw and address the root cause.

    Compressor noise on Linear Compressor fridges

    LG's Linear Compressor (different from the rotary compressors used by most brands) can develop a humming or buzzing noise over years. Some Linear Compressors had known reliability issues — there was a class-action settlement covering certain 2014–2017 models. Newer models have improved designs.

    TWINWash pedestal washer issues

    The smaller pedestal washer (a second compartment that doubles as a mini-washer) on TWINWash models has its own drain pump, water inlet, and motor. When it fails, it can be diagnosed and repaired independently of the main washer above.

Why won't my LG fridge make ice anymore?
Most often the water inlet valve has failed (no water entering), the fill tube has frozen solid (a French-door fridge issue), or the ice maker motor itself has failed. We check water flow first — if water isn't reaching the mold, the inlet valve is the likely culprit. If water reaches but ice doesn't eject, the motor is next.
Why is my LG washer not draining?
Most often a clogged drain pump filter (front-load LG models have an access door at the bottom of the unit) or a kinked drain hose behind the washer. Clean the filter first — this resolves a meaningful share of 'won't drain' calls. If still failing, the pump itself may need replacement.
I've heard about an LG compressor class action. What was that?
A class-action settlement covered certain LG refrigerator models from 2014–2017 with the LG Linear Compressor that failed earlier than expected. If your fridge is in that range and the compressor has failed, check the settlement details. Newer LG Linear Compressors have improved designs.
What's the lifespan of an LG washer or dryer?
8–12 years with normal use, similar to other mainstream brands. The Direct Drive motor itself typically outlasts the rest of the machine.
Do you service LG ThinQ smart appliances?
Yes — the mechanical and electrical components are the same as non-ThinQ models. The ThinQ app is connectivity, not the appliance itself. If your app isn't working, it's usually a network or pairing issue rather than an appliance fault.
Why is my LG washer showing UE constantly?
UE means unbalanced load — clothes pushed to one side of the drum. Try redistributing the load. If it happens on small loads or single items, the shocks or suspension may have weakened (which makes balancing harder). On front-loaders, also check that the unit is level.
Why is my LG dishwasher leaving dishes wet?
Either the heating element has failed (no dry cycle heat) or the rinse aid dispenser is empty. LG dishwashers use the heating element during the final rinse to dry dishes. Check rinse aid first; if full, the element is likely the issue.
What's the warranty on LG appliances?
Terms vary by model and change over time — check your warranty card or LG's site for current details. LG typically offers some labour coverage in the first year plus extended limited coverage on key components like the Direct Drive motor on washers and Linear Compressors on fridges. We can repair the appliance whether it's in or out of warranty.
Can you service LG TWINWash units?
Yes — the TWINWash pedestal is a self-contained smaller washer with its own components. We service either the top washer, the bottom pedestal, or both.
